Meet The Team.

With over 15 years of hands-on animal rescue experience, I bring both operational expertise and strategic leadership to our charity. I previously ran a dog rescue for five years, where I was responsible for overseeing daily operations, safeguarding standards, rehoming processes, volunteer coordination, fundraising, and ensuring high levels of welfare and compliance. This role strengthened my ability to balance compassionate care with structured governance and long-term sustainability. I currently share my home with seven dogs, five of whom have special needs and long-term health conditions. Providing ongoing medical, behavioural and complex care support has given me practical insight into the realities of long-term rehabilitation and responsible lifetime commitment. I have also hand-reared hundreds of puppies born with birth defects, including cleft palates, developing advanced neonatal care skills, resilience, and a meticulous approach to welfare management. Alongside my frontline rescue work, I bring 30 years of business management experience, with strengths in strategic planning, financial oversight, organisational development and team leadership. I am currently completing a Master’s degree in Leadership and Management, further strengthening my governance knowledge and commitment to best practice. My focus is always on ensuring that compassion is underpinned by strong systems, accountability and sustainable growth so that we can continue to provide the highest standard of care to every dog who comes through our doors.

Nicola -Trustee

I bring extensive hands on experience working with dogs of all temperaments, including those with complex behavioural challenges who were at risk of euthanasia before rehabilitation. Through patience, consistency and deep understand of canine behaviour, I have successfully help many dogs become safe, stable and adoptable, giving them a second chance at life. I have cared for and continue to care for disabled dogs, including supporting their mobility, medical and emotional needs, which has strengthened my ability to advocate for dogs requiring additional support. I worked in rescue for around 2 years, during which I carried out home checks and foster assessments and helped rehome hundreds of dogs. My approach combines compassion with practical knowledge and professionalism, enabling me to work effectively with both dogs and people while contributing positively to the long term welfare and rehoming success of vulnerable animals.

Lacey - Trustee

I bring over 15 years of experience in health and social care, with a strong understanding of safeguarding, wellbeing and person centred practice. My professional background has developed my ability to make balanced decisions, manage risk and contribute effectively to governance and strategic discussions. In addition to my care role, I volunteer within my community, helping to run a local play group for children and supporting a dog rescue organisation for the past two years. These roles have strengthened my teamwork, organisational skills and commitment to helping dogs. I currently own 2 dogs Roscoe who is a 5 year old American Bulldog mix and Stella who is a 3 legged staffy mix. I fostered Stella and within a matter of days decided she was staying. I have grown up with lots of family dogs and as soon as I was old enough I had to have one of my own.

With over 16 years of professional experience as a dog groomer, my work is built on a lifelong passion for dogs and a deep commitment to their welfare, comfort, and presentation. Grooming is more than a profession for me, it is a craft that combines skill, patience, and an understanding of each dog’s unique needs.

My journey with dogs began in childhood, growing up with family pets including a Labrador, Boxer, and Springer Spaniel. These early experiences developed my appreciation for different breeds, temperaments, and coat types, and sparked the passion that would later become my career.

Throughout my professional life, I have gained extensive hands-on experience working with dogs in a variety of environments. In addition to my grooming career, I have volunteered at a rescue centre where I assisted with the care and rehabilitation of dogs in need. I have also worked in a boarding kennels setting, gaining valuable experience in managing dogs of different temperaments, maintaining their routines, and ensuring their comfort and wellbeing.

Another rewarding aspect of my work has been transporting rescue dogs, helping them safely transition from rescue situations to foster homes or their forever families. Being part of that journey has reinforced my belief in the importance of patience, compassion, and responsible dog care.

As an adult dog owner, I have shared my life with several breeds, including Whippets, which further broadened my understanding of breed-specific care and grooming needs. Currently, I own a Miniature Poodle and a Dachshund mix. My Miniature Poodle is also my grooming competition partner, and together we compete in grooming competitions, allowing me to continually refine my skills, stay current with industry techniques, and celebrate the artistry of professional grooming.

Whether working with family pets, rescue dogs, or competition dogs, my goal is always the same: to provide attentive, high-quality grooming while ensuring every dog feels safe, comfortable, and cared for.

Kelly - Volunteer

I have over 25 years experience working in health and social care, during which I have developed strong communication skills and extensive experience of effective multi agency working. Alongside this, I have supported animal rescue organisations for around 10 years, providing transportation, dog walking and emergency fostering. I have also owned multiple bull breeds over the years and currently own a Staffordshire Bull Terrier mix and a rescued XL Bully, giving me hands on experience with the care, training and responsible ownership of these breeds I have always been passionate about dogs and their welfare from a young age, which has shaped both my personal life and long term commitment to supporting animal rescue and responsible ownership.

I share my life with four wonderful Staffordshire Bull Terriers Codi, Calypso, Coba and Thor who are at the heart of everything I do. Dogs have always played a significant role in my life and working with them is both a privilege and a passion. Being part of CWF is something I am incredibly proud of. Supporting rescue work and helping dogs find security, stability and love is deeply important to me. My experience includes fostering both cats and dogs, as well as working with a variety of breeds from different backgrounds. Each animal brings their own history and personality, and I genuinely value the opportunity to understand their needs and help them thrive. Thor himself was once a long-term foster who ultimately became a permanent and much loved member of my family. I currently also have two rescue cats, Simba and Nala, who despite my long standing claim of “not being a cat person” have very much found their place in my home. Alongside hands on care and fostering, I have a strong interest in canine photography. Capturing dogs’ character, expression and individuality through photography is something I truly enjoy, and it beautifully complements my work with rescue animals. For me, it’s all about commitment, compassion and creating safe, loving environments where animals can flourish.

Emma - Volunteer

I am deeply committed to animal welfare, rehabilitation, and community engagement. I currently care for four dogs: two Belgian Malinois, Alan and Drago, and a German Shepherd, all of whom are trained GP security dogs. I also have Hughie, who joined our family after initially coming to us as a foster placement and whom we later adopted.
For several years, I have worked alongside a rescue organisation, fostering numerous dogs and supporting the rehabilitation of nervous and previously abused animals. My focus has been on rebuilding their confidence, addressing behavioural challenges, and providing structured training to help them become stable, well-adjusted companions.
My partner is a professional security dog handler and former dog trainer with extensive experience working with dogs displaying severe aggression and complex behavioural issues. Together, we share a strong commitment to responsible training practices and the successful rehabilitation of challenging cases. In addition to my work in animal rescue, I have been involved in organising charity events, including a highly successful fashion show held for the Lord Mayor. This event positively engaged local young people, providing constructive opportunities and helping to divert them from negative influences. Through these experiences, I have developed strong event planning abilities, effective communication skills, and the confidence to engage with individuals from a wide range of backgrounds. I am passionate about contributing my skills and experience to meaningful charitable initiatives that make a genuine difference.

Danielle - Volunteer

My name is Danielle, I have 3 dogs of my own, all of different breeds and full of character who I love dearly. My girl Manè is a Staffy Cross whom I bought and wanted to have a good home from an accidental litter, I also train her on agility, Hooch is my Olde English Bulldog whom is a purebred from a reputable breeder and he is just plain and simple a Hooch. Titan is my Cane Corso who I adopted from a previous rescue. Not forgetting my old boy Tyke whom I adopted from the RSPCA. My passion for dogs began as a child where I trained Border Collies with my Dad when we owned 5! I also have hands on experience of fostering puppies and watching them grow and move on into their forever homes. Becoming a part of this charity is something I am very proud of, not only being able to help dogs and owners in need, but doing it with a group of friends makes it all that more special.

Louise - Volunteer

I have dedicated my life to caring for others both people and dogs. With 20 years of experience working within the NHS, including 12 years in emergency care, I have developed resilience, compassion, and the ability to remain calm in high-pressure situations. Supporting individuals during some of their most vulnerable moments has strengthened my patience, empathy, and understanding qualities I bring into every aspect of my life. Dogs have always been a central part of my world. I grew up with a variety of breeds, giving me early exposure to different temperaments and needs. Today, I have three dogs of my own, two of whom are rescues. My passion for giving dogs a second chance led me to foster and rehabilitate dogs, helping them build confidence, trust and stability in a safe home environment. In fact, our very first foster dog became a permanent member of our family. For the past two years, I have also run my own dog walking business, working with dogs of all breeds, sizes, and behavioural backgrounds. This hands-on experience has further developed my understanding of canine behaviour, structure, and enrichment. As a parent to a son with ADHD, patience, consistency, and calm guidance are part of my daily life. I understand the importance of creating environments where both people and animals feel secure and supported. Caring for dogs especially those who need extra understanding is not just something I do; it is something I am deeply committed to. I believe every dog deserves safety, compassion, and the chance to thrive.

Jamiie - Volunteer

My name is Jamiie, and I am a dedicated dog owner and foster carer with hands on experience in rescue work. I am the owner of two personal dogs an XL Bully and an American Bulldog cross and I am currently fostering a Dogue de Bordeaux cross. Over the years, my involvement in rescue has provided me with extensive practical experience. I have worked with dogs struggling with fear and anxiety-related behaviours, as well as those who have been severely malnourished and required careful rehabilitation to regain their health and confidence. These experiences have strengthened my understanding of canine behaviour, recovery, and responsible care. My passion for dogs began at a very young age, having grown up with them throughout my life. In addition, as a parent to two children with autism, I have developed a high level of patience, resilience, and adaptability qualities that are essential when caring for dogs of all breeds, temperaments, and backgrounds.

Ciara - Volunteer

I have been around dogs for over 20 years, starting with my first dog at 18. She was backyard bred and sadly stolen from me, but that experience began a lifelong connection with dogs and their welfare. Not long after, Jazz came into my life as a favour for a friend. Due to the abuse she had suffered before coming to me, she never left. Caring for her taught me patience, compassion and the importance of understanding each dog’s past. Later I welcomed Star, a foreign rescue from Bosnia. At the time we struggled to adopt in the UK because I had a young child, so we chose to adopt internationally. Bringing Star home came with challenges to say the least. Everything I thought I knew about dogs, she expanded. She taught me about boundaries, advocacy and adapting training methods because every dog learns differently. Over the past two decades I’ve continued learning about canine behaviour, health, breed needs and responsible ownership. That experience has shaped my passion for helping dogs and supporting the people who care and love for them when they need it most.
