About Us

The Canine Welfare Fund is a non-profit organisation dedicated to improving the lives of dogs by providing vital financial support, practical resources and strong advocacy for canine welfare. We exist to ensure that no dog is left without care, comfort or compassion simply because the cost of essentials support has become overwhelming.

We proudly advocate for dogs of all breeds, sizes, colours and circumstances. Every dog deserves kindness, dignity and access to the care they need, regardless of background, appearance or situation. Our work is rooted in the belief that welfare should be inclusive, fair and driven solely by the needs of the dog.

SUPPORTING OWNERS

Veterinary care can be lifesaving, but it can also be financially challenging. Many responsible dog owners do everything they can, including taking out insurance, only to find themselves facing unexpected costs once their policy limits have been reached. Others encounter sudden illness, injury or long term medical conditions that place essential treatment beyond their financial means.'

The Canine Welfare Fund provides assistance with veterinary bills for owners who have exhausted their insurance options and are unable to afford the remaining fees. By stepping in during these critical moments, we help ensure dogs receive timely medical care, while also supporting owners through incredibly stressful and emotional situations. Our aim is to prevent unnecessary suffering and reduce the number of dogs facing relinquishment due to financial hardship.

HELPING RESCUES AND CHARITABLE CAUSES

Rescue organisations and animal charities work tirelessly to save, rehabilitate and rehome dogs often with limited funding and resources. are proud to support rescues. We are proud to support rescues both within the UK and abroad by contributing towards:

  • Veterinary treatment and ongoing medical care

  • Food and nutritional supplies

  • Essential equipment and welfare items

  • Emergency aid during urgent or high risk situations

In addition to supporting rescues, we assist charitable causes that dedicate themselves to improving canine welfare in meaningful and often life changing ways. This includes helping fund wheelchairs and mobility aids for disabled dogs, supporting dog food banks and contributing to organisations that supply essential resources to rescue operating both locally and internationally.

ADVOCACY AT THE HEART OF WHAT WE DO

Advocacy is central to the Canine Welfare Fund’s mission. We stand up for dogs who may be overlooked, misunderstood or disadvantaged and we work to raise awareness of the challenges faced by dogs in all kinds of situations. Whether a dog is young or old, able bodied or disabled, pedigree or crossbreed, owned or in a rescue care, we believe every dog deserves to be treated with respect and compassion.

Through education, collaboration and community engagement, we strive to promote responsible ownership, ethical rescue practices and improved welfare standards for dogs everywhere.

A COMMITMENT TO COMPASSION AND COMMUNITY

At the heart of the Canine Welfare Fund is a belief that collaboration and kindness can change lives. We work closely with dog owners, rescues, volunteers, and partner organisations to build a supportive network united by a shared passion for canine welfare. Our approach is transparent, compassionate, and always guided by the best interests of the dog.

FUNDRAISING AND EVENTS

To sustain and grow our work, we host a variety of fun, inclusive fundraising activities and community events. These range from light-hearted fundraisers to larger organised events, all designed to bring people together in support of canine welfare. Not only do these events help raise vital funds, but they also strengthen community ties and increase awareness of the challenges faced by dogs and those who care for them.
